WHITESTONE

(S.Storer 2021)

Do you have a place where you can rest at ease

A little bit of water the birds the earth the trees

Do have a home when the lightning shows

A little heaven on earth for a second or so

CH

Whitestone water wash my soul

And take me down where the crocodiles roll

Do have a dawn where birds in chorus sing

Ripples on the water peaceful Barra sink

Down deep into the shadows of that lemon scented gum

Better get up and start moving check the cattle grab a gun

CH

Whitestone water wash my soul

And take me down where the crocodiles roll

Whitestone water fireflies flashing

Oh I breathe you out and you breathe me in again

Do you have a worry that holds onto your heart

Slip into my chair and watch the water

CH

Whitestone water wash my soul

And take me down where the crocodiles roll

Whitestone water fireflies flashing

Oh I breathe you out and you breathe me in again

Whitestone water wash my soul

And take me down where the crocodiles roll

Whitestone water fireflies flashing

Oh I breathe you out and you breathe me in again

Oh I breathe you out and you breathe me in again

Oh I breathe you out… and you breathe me in again

SONGWRITER

(S.Storer ’22)

They want to hear about a truckies heart

They want to hear about a lover’s sin

They want to sing about the drought and flood

And songs that leave them wondering

They want to hear about what Aussies do

Is it the outback that pulls them in?

And songs that make ‘em cry like lonely fools

Because it’s like you wrote it just for them

Ch

Songwriter…write me a song

Take me along…with you

They want to sing along with every word

Who’ll make the gravy for a drover’s wife

And feel the pride of every countryman

True blue plays as you say goodbye

Busted broken and hanging on

They want to hear about their little town

I won’t forget the day you sang along

As beautiful circles go around

CH

Songwriter…write me a song

Take me along…

Songwriter…write me a song

Take me along… with you

Oh my imaginations just gone wild

Down the race they’re coming fake and true

I’d have a drafting gate on every smile

Truck bush block ‘em bush ‘em

Don’t let them through

CH

Songwriter…write me a song

Take me along…

Songwriter…write me a song

Take me along…with you

Oh with you

SHOW ME

(S.Storer & G.Storer 2021)

Don’t look down your nose at me

You don’t know my history

This book cover it aint brand new

But the pages are thick & speak of love & truth

Don’t be calling the kettle black

Don’t run ‘em down behind their back

My dad may have worked the plough

But he taught us all when to shut our mouths

You tell me to walk in a straight line

And I say how is that done? Show me!

How is that done? Show me!

How is that done? Show me!

Don’t look down your nose at me

These old clothes fit perfectly

My kids are wild and my heart’s a mess

Is there something you need to get off your chest?

You tell me to walk in a straight line

And I say how is that done? Show me!

How is that done? Show me!

How is that done? Show me!

Don’t look down your nose again

This is my home where I began

I may be rough but I got a heart of gold

It’s time my friend you were told

You tell me to walk in a straight line

And I say how is that done? Show me!

How is that done? Show me!

How is that done? Show me!

How is that done? Why don’t you show me!

How is that done? Why don’t you show me!

How is that done? Come on and show me!

PEDAL PUSH N PEDAL

(G.Storer 2021)

Well the road is straight and goes up away

Through a lovely little valley that they managed to save

Oh I let a car go by and the kids all wave

I’m going to pedal push and pedal

Pedal push and pedal my day away

Well my tyres are tight and I roll along

And a valley stream whispers a pedalling song

Oh I’m alive I’m alive with every breath that I take

Oh I’m going to pedal push and pedal

Pedal push and pedal my day away

Ch

And If I get tired I’ll find a shady tree

Have a snooze for a while or two might slip into a dream

Then go a drifting high across a distant ridge

Get a wing feathered view yeah that’s what I’ll do

Just swing off the breeze

Then a vicious willy wag tail has a word with me

He plays it real straight mate, stay away from my family

Oh now I’m wide awake and I obey

Yeah I’m going to pedal push and pedal

Pedal push and pedal my day away

Ch

Got a rusty chain I got a rusty knee

But I’ve got spike proof tyres

Nothing’s stopping me

Might go a drifting high across a distant ridge

Yeah get a wing feathered view yeah that’s what I’ll do

Just swing off the breeze

I don’t go fast in fact I go real slow

Let the bush do it’s work let all the other stuff go

Cause I’m alive I’m alive with every breath I take

I’m going to pedal push and pedal

Pedal push and pedal my day away

I’m going to pedal push and pedal

Pedal push and pedal my day away

I’m going to pedal push and pedal

Pedal push and pedal my day away yeah

DUST KIDS

(G.Storer 2017)

Look at these little dust kids

All along the Bullagreen Lane

Born in the dust with not one drop of rain

Oh they’ll be tough these little dust kids

And wherever they may roam

Get a wiff of dust close their eyes

And they’ll be home

Look at those little dust feet

I tell ya they’re cat head proof

With a nic and cut

And a toe nail half gone too

Well I don’t envy those little dust feet

By gee they’ve got a job to do

They take orders from the top

Then they’re hopping like a kangaroo

Look at this little dust kid

Sharing her food with blue

One for me and bluey two for you

Now Bluey’s heart has melted

And he’ll protect his little mate

From a rogue pig dog

To a pissed off trod on snake

Look at this little dust kid

Waiting at the gate for uncle Ben

We’ll get a ride on the bikes

And go and check the bulls

Oh he loves his uncle Benny

And he’s gunna be just like him

Get a big mo mo bike

And make those tyres spin

Look at these little dust kids

All along the Bullagreen Lane

Born in the dust with not one drop of rain

They’ll be tough these little dust kids

And wherever they may roam

Get a wiff of dust close their eyes

Well they’ll be home

Yeah get a wiff of dust close their eyes

Well they’ll be home

Yer a nice wiff of dust

Yeah what we need now is some little mud kids

DRIFT AWAY

(S.Storer & G.Storer 2021)

Let the morning sleep

Let the heat retire

Breeze lifts you up like fallen leaves

And as you lay down last

Your bed is soft as clover

No more pain

Drift away

Let the morning sleep

And let the weeds grow wild

Leave the gate wide open

And free

And as you fill the earth

It soaks you up like raindrops

No more pain

Drift away

Let the morning sleep

Let your boots retire

Breeze lifts you up

Like fallen leaves

Oh it will take you places

So you can see your father

No more pain

Drift away

No more pain

Drift away

THE TANK

(G.Storer ’12)

Oh it’s so hot I can’t breathe

I’ve been out here all day just chasing sheep

I can’t sweat and I can’t eat

That big burning ball is a cooking me

Gunna strain the barb and close the gate

Hungry stock well they’ll have to wait

Gunna grab Marie that girl of mine

We’ll be down at the tank at sundown time

CH

Down at the tank at sundown time

You bring the watermelon I’ll bring the wine

Sun god be gone leave us alone

Cool muddy water soak our bones

Oh big blue skies one million fly’s

January February go and die

I cooked my truck and my good dog Stan

And you know Stan he was my right hand man

Float to the middle and sink down low

Where the turtles and the fishies and the yabbies go

Me and Marie that girl of mine

We’ll be down at the tank at sundown time

CH

Down at the tank at sundown time

You bring the watermelon I’ll bring the wine

Sun god be gone leave us alone

Cool muddy water soak our bones

Down at the tank at sundown time

You bring the watermelon I’ll bring the wine

Sun god be gone leave us alone

Cool muddy water soak our bones

Well you can do some deep deep thinking dude

When your drifting round on your tractor tube

Like we’re just fleas on a spinning dog

It won’t stop and we can’t get off

Float to the middle and sink down low

Where the turtles and the fishies and the yabbies go

Me and Marie that girl of mine

We’ll be down at the tank at sundown time

CH

Down at the tank at sundown time

You bring the watermelon I’ll bring the wine

Sun god be gone leave us alone

Cool muddy water soak our bones

Down at the tank at sundown time

You bring the watermelon I’ll bring the wine

Sun god be gone leave us alone

Cool muddy water soak our bones

MACHINERY MAN

(G.Storer & S.Storer ’14)

For punishment when he’d gone wrong

His mum wouldn’t let him mow the lawn

And he’d pull apart all his little toys

To see what was going on

And he’d mop the floor at Gun ‘n Sons

Back when they sold Bulldog tractors

So they sent him off to diesel school no surprise

I think it’s what old Bill had factored

CH

Oh he’s a machinery man

Ground in sump oil in his hands

And it’s been there ever since he was a kid

Oh he’s a machinery man

They put a spanner in his hand

And when you think about it

Thank God they did

He did ten years on the DMR

Changing grouser plates on dozers

Then he did stint in the Pilbara

Changing hydraulic hoses

And he’s just a bloody geru on Detroit or a Cummin’s

Right up north right down to Stumpy Creek

He can crack ’em and rebuild them

And do a hot set in his sleep

CH

Oh he’s a machinery man

Ground in sump oil in his hands

And it’s been there ever since he was a kid

Oh he’s a machinery man

They put a spanner in his hand

And when you think about it

Thank God they did

Bill will drive his mum bananas

That boys wired differently

And he can hear a dickie fuel pump

From half way down the street

But he’s just bloody marvel

And his veins are fuelled with diesel not with blood

And you can see him grinning ear to ear

Dropping oil out of a sump

CH

Oh he’s a machinery man

Ground in sump oil in his hands

And it’s been there ever since he was a kid

Oh he’s a machinery man

They put a spanner in his hand

And when you think about it

Thank God they did

Oh he’s a machinery man

Ground in sump oil in his hands

And it’s been there ever since he was a kid

Oh he’s a machinery man

They put a spanner in his hand

And when you think about it

Thank God they did

DREAM AGAIN

(S.Storer & G.Storer 2021)

There are monsters in this place

No bones no feathers just wicked ways

But free to roam eat and prey

No sleep little girl just a big nightmare

No love little girl just more despair

No sparkle in your eyes do the big Gods care?

And if I could I’d break a branch

For a little girl who didn’t stand a chance

And we’d draw love hearts in the sand

And if I could I’d turn back time

Your little hand I’d hold in mine

And we’d fish down on that river bend

And you can dream again

There must be a place has this world gone mad

Big loving hearts and shielding hands

Where ya babies sleep safe from harm

Where a monster growls but he gets knocked down

Where the monster’s house burns to the ground

Where the monster meets the big Gods frown

And if I could I’d run bare feet

With you and footy and a big big dream

Yeah we’d be top dogs and girls would scream

And I could I’d turn back time

You and me sister our hands deep down

Digging for a froggie on that river bend

And you can dream again

If the devil doesn’t take their souls

The Kurdiacha is gunna point his bone

And if I could I’d find a turtle shell

Fulla river water our wishing well

Laughing ‘til our little bellies’ hurt like hell

And if I could I’d turn back time

Race ya cross the river our little legs flying

Two gold medals how it should of have been

And you can dream again

And if I could just turn back time

You can dream again

WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

(Pip Storer ‘20)

July is the month of winter wood and warm fire

When we would chop wood as kids

We would see who could make the flame higher

Fighting over trees in the scrub

Stories about Cowboys and Indians oh oh

But that was when we were young

Nan and Pops house now it’s Uncle Dougs

Rod Stewart what a stud oh oh

When the CMC was on

We would make a dance to any old song

In the lounge room or outside

Oldest sister says that we’ve got it wrong

We would charge a dollar

To watch our concerts

Telling jokes and twirling around

Until someone gets hurt

But that was when we were young

Playing cafes mixing mud in the sun

Making cubby houses it was great fun oh oh

News reporters on the bus ride to school

And choc mud cake that fell on the floor

Picked up hitchhikers of an afternoon

Slamming on the breaks a k from a roo

Reciting plaster master theme song

And out the window goes our Ken barbie doll oh oh

But that was when we were young

First ones on the bus and the last ones off

7.30 start and a 4 o’clock stop oh oh

Tins of milo and home made toffee

Cups of tea at smoko and ice coffee

Pranking uncles with a snake in a bread box

Going shooting looking for a good fox

Riding bikes helping dad with the cows

Eckie the echidna yeah he’s still around

Who can steal the jar off lollies off pop

Whiles he’s sleeping and the tv’s off oh oh

Now everybody’s moving on

And we aren’t so very young

Everybody’s getting older

My little brother’s getting taller

THIS MUSIC’S FOR YOU

(S Storer 2022)

This music’s for you

It’s my little gift

No it’s not your birthday

It’s because I left

So sit down my love

Even though you are sad

You are my song

The best song that I have

I want you to try and it’s hard I know

But it’s your turn woman

Take it all in think of this as a show

And I’m up here singing

This music’s for you

It’s my little gift

And your ticket is for free woman

My special guest

So sing along my darling

Don’t let your blues start a crying

In the rain that beautiful rain

I want you to try and its hard I know

But it’s your turn woman

Take it all in think of this as a show

And I’m up there singing

This music’s for you

My foot’s tap tapping on heavens floor

I know it’s not the kitchen

It’s not the kitchen anymore

I want you to try and it’s hard I know

But it’s your turn woman

Take it all in think of this as a show

And I’m up here singing

I want you to try and it’s hard I know

But it’s your turn woman

Take it all in think of this as a show

and I’m up there singing

This music’s for you

It’s my little gift

Oh this music’s for you … because I left
